CRANBROOK ART MUSEUM DETROIT WEDDING
Looking for Detroit's most beautiful wedding inspiration? Look no further! Abigail and Andy's Cranbrook Art Museum Wedding is definitely one for the books! But before I show you their gorgeous wedding photos let me tell you about this special couple and every detail that made their day such an amazing celebration and a reflection of their unique style and vision.
UNIQUE DETROIT WEDDING AT CRANBROOK ART MUSEUM
From the moment I met Abigail & Andy on our introductory zoom call I just knew this was going to be a really special wedding. It instantly felt like we had known each other for years and that I was a friend coming to celebrate their wedding with them. Andy is an alumni student of Cranbrook and the couple have shared so many special memories on the grounds. I knew that this venue was more than just a venue, it was a part of their legacy. We had so much fun planning the wedding together with their absolutely amazing wedding planner Keriann from With Love Events and Molly our excellent Event Coordinator at the Cranbrook Art Museum.
Abigail is a force of nature, with her sparkling personality and caring nature, she is just such an inspiration. From running her own business to making her own 7-tiered wedding cake! If she wants something, she goes for it 110%. And their wedding was definitely a reflection of her drive and unique personality! Andy is such an intelligent, kind-hearted person, with a love so deep for Abigail, that you can see it in his eyes. The way he looks at her will just melt your heart!
INCLUDING PERSONAL TOUCHES TO THEIR DETROIT WEDDING
Every part of this wedding had a personal touch of the couple and their values. Abigail looked timeless and elegant in her gown from The Brides Project. The Brides Project is a nonprofit bridal shop that supports cancer patients and their families. I just loved that Abigail chose to support such an amazing charity and this is a testament to her as an exceptional person and a bride. This gown was just a masterpiece with soft layers of chiffon and intricate hand-sewn beading and pearls. The ivory color was just magnificent on Abigail's dewy skin tone and she looked like a princess in her own fairytale. Abigail's bracelet as well as Andy's cufflinks and studs are family heirlooms that they wore for their "something borrowed and blue". I love when my couples honor their family members that came before them by wearing these key pieces. It has so much emotional value and is an expression of love.
Andy looked dashing in his tux by State & Liberty His black tux complimented Abigail's stunning gown perfectly. Abigail's wedding rings were designed by the couple with the help of Brian from Zalman's Treasures which is a family-owned fine jeweler that specializes in unique pieces.
There were so many special personal details in this Jewish wedding that made it so unique and special to the couple. Abigail's mother silk painted the Chuppah (a nuptial canopy that creates a temporary sanctified space for the Bride and Groom at the end of the aisle.) Abigail also designed and made laser engraved nameplates for each guest as well as the exquisite laser-carved invitation suites. She also artfully created the Ketubah (Jewish Marriage Contract) with the help of Andy with support from Jeff at the Idea Lab at the Birmingham Public Library The pattern on the Ketubah was inspired by an architectural feature at Cranbrook Art Museum.
Abigail's cousins Steven and Jacob created dreamy floral installations and cluster centerpieces that complimented the outdoor tented reception. They artfully decorated the reception space using natural tones including light and airy sage green sheer table runners, and different intrinsic glass wear with a variety of seasonal florals including dahlias and lilies in shades from white to variations of pink. Abigail's sister Emily created her unique table numbers with cute photos of the couple growing up, adding that extra personal touch.
The showstopper (apart from the gorgeous couple) was the 7 Tier cake the bride Abigail created herself! This masterpiece consisted of alternating white chiffon cake with lemon curd and raspberries and chocolate chiffon cake with chocolate mousse. This wedding cake had a Swiss Meringue Butter Cream Finish that was sculpted into this work of art. 500 stems of flowers, primarily dahlias, were dedicated to the cake alone. It measured just over 3 feet and weighed an estimated 160 lbs. It took several people to move this creation to the dance floor but it was worth it.
Colin from Tunes by T did a fantastic job by creating an absolute vibe at the reception. The celebration started off with the couple's grand entrance, followed by the cutting of this magnificent cake. Thereafter the gorgeous couple did their first dance, the father/daughter dance, and the mother/son dance. The guests enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Taste by Chartwells while the sun set over the magnificent Cranbrook Art Museum.
My absolute favorite part of the reception was the Hora (a Jewish traditional dance where they hoist the couple on chairs in the air). What an amazing party! I really enjoyed the traditional dances that kept people out of their seats and on the dance floor!
To the newlyweds, thank you for trusting me to capture these amazing moments for you! You both are so amazing, and I have loved every second of working with you guys. I hope you cherish these photos for decades to come!
